Spice Without Borders announces the 2018 Spice Accelerator and the availability of 5 partial scholarships for social change accelerators in East Africa.
Spice Accelerator is a six month catalytic program that empowers participants to develop all the necessary skills for social change. We are not an academic institution and therefore formal education is not a requirement. All you need is a passion for an idea or running a project that transforms mindsets in your backyard.
At the Spice Accelerator we believe in the importance of not feeling like you are in this alone. It is essential to regularly check in with trusted collaborators, partners, and fellow accelerators along the way. Great initiatives and causes are not created in a vacuum; diverse perspectives help you hone and question your own approach. We believe that success in the social change impact creation means a long career, and that means focus on your mental and emotional well being.
We target the underprivileged women and men as well aged 18 years and older from within East Africa with the aim of scaling up to other global regions. These individuals come from diverse cultural backgrounds, religious backgrounds, socio-economic backgrounds and educational backgrounds. Participants share this diversity as they work, live and learn together. They are exposed to methods, techniques and theories that are relevant to their own ideas.
We create the visibility of these individuals through our platform dubbed SpiceTalks where they share their unheard ideas to a global audience. By this we seek to disrupt and change perceptions by empowering women social activists and men as well, social project architects, social change provokers, social entrepreneurs, music artists, poets, photographers and bloggers who are keen on transforming mindsets, generate engagement and enable partnerships for local action.
