Spice Without Borders

Kilimo Accelerator™

Growing Young Agripreneurs. Cultivating Change.

“Kilimo” means farming in Swahili — and at Kilimo Accelerator™, it is more than a practice; it is a mindset.

Kilimo Accelerator™ is the youth agripreneurship accelerator of the Spice Without Borders ecosystem. Through a three-month entrepreneurial and life-skills boot camp, we equip adolescents aged 13–17 with the knowledge, practical experience, entrepreneurial mindset, and leadership skills needed to transform agriculture into a pathway for opportunity, sustainability, and community impact.

Guided by the Purpose to Impact™ methodology and grounded in the SPICE Framework™, participants learn by doing—planting, producing, marketing, innovating, and building agricultural enterprises that address real community challenges.

At Kilimo Accelerator™, we do not simply teach young people how to farm. We help them discover purpose, develop practical skills, create innovative solutions, connect with mentors and opportunities, accelerate their ideas, and become the next generation of agripreneurs and changemakers.

We believe agriculture is one of the greatest opportunities to create livelihoods, strengthen food systems, protect the environment, and build resilient communities. By nurturing curiosity, creativity, and entrepreneurship from an early age, we empower young people to cultivate more than crops—we empower them to cultivate lasting impact.

Why Kilimo Accelerator™

Africa’s future depends on young people who can feed growing populations, restore ecosystems, create employment, and build resilient local economies.

Yet many young people still view agriculture as outdated, difficult, or lacking opportunity.

Kilimo Accelerator™ is changing that perception.

By combining regenerative agriculture, entrepreneurship, climate action, innovation, financial literacy, and experiential learning, we inspire participants to see agriculture as a modern, exciting, and impactful career pathway.

Our goal is not simply to develop young farmers—we develop young agripreneurs who create value across the agricultural value chain while solving local challenges, improving food security, creating livelihoods, and responding to climate change.

We believe the most sustainable transformation grows from the ground up, and our role is to nurture, refine, support, and accelerate ideas into thriving agricultural enterprises and community initiatives.

Our Purpose

To develop young agripreneurs who use agriculture, innovation, and entrepreneurship to improve livelihoods, strengthen communities, and build resilient food systems.

Our Vision

A future where young people lead sustainable agricultural transformation, create thriving enterprises, and contribute to food security, environmental stewardship, and prosperous rural communities across Africa.

Our Learning Philosophy

At Kilimo Accelerator™, learning happens in the field as much as in the classroom.

Participants gain practical experience by planting crops, caring for demonstration farms, experimenting with new ideas, visiting successful agricultural enterprises, working in teams, and solving real-world challenges through hands-on learning.

We believe young people learn best by doing.

Every activity is designed to help participants connect knowledge with action, build confidence through experience, and develop practical solutions that create measurable impact within their communities.

The SPICE Framework™

Everything within Kilimo Accelerator™ is guided by the five values of the SPICE Framework™.

Strength
Building resilience, confidence, leadership, and determination through practical agricultural experience.

Purpose
Helping participants discover how agriculture can become a meaningful pathway for creating positive change.

Innovation
Applying new technologies, regenerative farming practices, and entrepreneurial thinking to solve agricultural challenges.

Creativism
Using creativity, storytelling, indigenous knowledge, and local innovation to inspire better farming practices and stronger communities.

Equity
Promoting inclusive participation and ensuring young people—especially girls and underserved communities—have equal opportunities to succeed.

These values shape every learning experience, every enterprise, and every partnership throughout the programme.

Purpose to Impact™

Kilimo Accelerator™ follows the official Purpose to Impact™ methodology of Spice Without Borders.

Participants discover opportunities within agriculture, understand community needs and food systems, design practical solutions, collaborate with farmers and partners, and accelerate sustainable agricultural enterprises capable of creating long-term impact.

Purpose → Insight → Make → Partner → Accelerate

This methodology ensures participants develop not only agricultural knowledge but also the entrepreneurial, leadership, and problem-solving skills needed to create lasting change.
